Registration
I have created an account, what happens now?
Once you create your account, please make sure to download the Zen app. Once there, please follow the onboarding process by uploading all required documents and completing your profile (including a profile picture!).
I have uploaded all my documents and completed my profile. What are the next steps?
That’s great! The team will review your profile, and they will be in touch as soon as possible to discuss the next steps. Please note that depending on the volume of registrations in your area, it may take a few days for the team to reach out.
I am having trouble uploading my documents.
Please make sure to complete as much as possible on your profile, and the team will discuss any missing documents down the line. If you are struggling to upload a document to the correct field, then feel free to click on “Need to upload other documents?” and upload it there instead.
How do I upload references?
Your references must cover all employment over the last two years. You must provide at least two references, including your most recent work with children.
We may be able to use a character reference if you are unable to get a professional reference.
If you have made an error when inputting your references, please let us know.
What areas in the UK do Zen Educate operate in?
We work with schools across the UK, mainly in the following regions:
London, Bristol, Surrey, Sussex, Cornwall, Devon, Cardiff, Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, Leeds and Liverpool
We are always looking to expand out to different regions, so if your area is not in this list but is close to an area we work in, then please get in touch!
Working with Zen
I'm verified and looking for work. What do I do?
Once you have completed the onboarding process, then you will be able to accept requests from Zen based on your preferences and browse any available vacancies on the app! You can see available Daily Supply requests in the Supply tab, and any long term opportunities are displayed in the Jobs tab.
Make sure to keep an eye on your notifications, and regularly check the app for any requests that come through.
When is the best time to look for requests?
Daily Supply requests can come through at any time throughout the day, although this will usually peak during the morning rush (6:30am-10am) and in the afternoon (3pm-5pm).
They can sometimes go quite quickly so make sure to keep an eye on your notifications, and regularly check the app during these core hours for any available requests!
I'm having trouble getting booking requests.
The requests you receive via the app are created by schools in your area. As such, they are directly reflective of the amount of demand from these schools, which can fluctuate over time.
Please note that these requests are sent out to multiple candidates to ensure that the school receives cover, so it is important that you keep an eye on your notifications as booking requests can occasionally go quite quickly.
You will receive requests in line with your work and travel preferences, so it is important you keep these updated to ensure you receive work that is relevant to you.
Finally, please make sure that your push notifications for the Zen app are switched on both in the app and in your phone settings.
What happens after I express interest in a role?
Once you express interest in a role on the app, your profile will be reviewed by the school and if they feel you are a match for the role then we will be in touch to provide you with more information and next steps!
However, if you do not hear anything from us it may be that the school has decided to go with another candidate on this occasion.
How do I report an absence?
To report an absence, please head to the Booking Details of the role(s) you will be absent from and select Can’t Make It.
From there, you can choose which days you will be absent as well as providing any information you have in regards to this absence.
We ask that you give as much notice as possible when reporting an absence in order to minimise the impact on the school.
Please bear in mind that repeated absences with less than 24 hours notice may result in your work with Zen being reviewed. For more information on our absence policy, please click here.
I want to cancel my booking to accept another booking.
By accepting a role, you are committing to working in that role only for the entire duration of the booking. As such, it is very important that you ensure you are willing and able to work for the entire duration of a booking before you accept it.
If you wish to cancel your booking, then you can mark yourself as absent on the app, however this does not reinstate your availability for that period.
I need a reference for my work with Zen.
Zen can provide a standard written reference that details the first day and latest day worked, as well as the role you worked in.
We will need someone under a professional email address (such as an employer) to request this by contacting our references email: references@zeneducate.com.
Please note that we cannot comment on your employment status or income. If you require proof of income or employment, please contact your umbrella company as they will be able to assist with this. You will generally need this for rental or visa applications.
How do I apply for my DBS refund?
Once you have worked 10 days with Zen Educate, we can refund your DBS application fee.
In order for us to process your refund, please email support@zeneducate.com with the following details:
- Receipted Invoice for your DBS application (this will have been attached to the payment confirmations email sent by uCheck)
- Your 8-digit bank account number
- Your 6-digit sort code
Please note, we cannot accept bank statements or DBS certificates as proof of purchase. If you cannot find your receipt, please contact uCheck directly to obtain this:

Refunds are processed every 30 working days, so it may take up to that amount of time for it to arrive in your account. Furthermore, we are only able to provide a refund for the first DBS you process with us.

How do I refer someone to Zen?
If you know someone who may be interested in working with Zen then you can refer them by sending this form for them to complete:

Don't worry if they have already registered with Zen - send them the link and we will match it to the correct profile once they complete it!
How do I claim my referral bonus?
Teaching Assistants:
If you referred a teaching assistant, you will both be eligible for a £50 Amazon voucher once you have both worked at least 5 days.
Teachers:
If you have referred a Teacher, you will be eligible for a £100 voucher after they work their first day.
Once they work 10 days, you will receive a further £150!
Please make sure they have completed the link above, and you will receive it within 30 working days!
Profile
How do I change my profile photo?
Because it is visible to schools, any changes to your profile picture must be approved by Zen. If you have requested to change your profile picture but it has not yet been updated, please let us know!
How do I update my work preferences?
You can view your work preferences in the Preferences section of the app. if you would like to update things such as preferred years, school types, or role types, please get in touch!
How do I change my personal details?
Any personal details such as email, address, or phone number will need to be updated internally.
Please get in touch with us via the chat or on support@zeneducate.com to let us know what you would like to update, and what you would like to update it to.
I would like to delete my account.
We're sorry to hear that! If you have any issues with Zen then the team are always on hand to discuss them with you - feel free to contact us directly.
If your mind is made up, then you can request for your account to be deleted by heading to the 'More' section of the Zen app and clicking 'Delete Account'.
Please note that this will immediately unverify your account, so you will no longer be able to view any roles. The team will action your request shortly afterwards.
