Using the Ofsted View

The Ofsted View of the Single Central Record includes an overview of the Vetting checks that are required by Ofsted and enables you to access this easily in the event of an Ofsted inspection and identify any gaps you have in the SCR.

What does the Ofsted view include?

Employment information:

  • Includes information about the staff member's Role type, Job Title and Start/Visit Date

Identity Document:

  • To verify the person’s identity using official government documents (e.g. passport, driving license)

Right to Work:

  • Schools must verify the individual's legal right to work in the UK.
  • May include visa or immigration status verification.

DBS certificate:

  • To ensure the safety and well-being of children, particularly those in unsupervised contact with them and to check for criminal convictions and ensure the individual isn’t barred from working with children.
  • To ensure that all staff and volunteers working in the school have undergone the appropriate DBS checks as outlined in the Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance.

References:

  • Ofsted requires two references as part of the safeguarding requirements for individuals working with children and vulnerable adults. One of the references should be from the staff member's most recent employer to verify past conduct and suitability.

Safeguarding training:

  • Staff should ensure their safeguarding training is up to date and in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance.

How can I search for specific staff?

You can search for specific staff by filtering by Job role within the school by using the dropdown bar or by searching their name in the search bar.

You can download data from the Ofsted view by clicking the 'Download XLSX' button in the right hand side and choosing Ofsted View.
