Your Right to Work and Identity Documents
Proving your right to work in the UK is a required part of your onboarding. Here is what you need to provide and how to get it done.
How do I prove my right to work?
How you do this depends on your nationality.
UK citizens
Open the app and go to your onboarding page. Under Identity Verification and Documents, tap Identity and Documents, then select Verify your Identity with Onfido. Onfido will guide you through the steps.
When entering your details, make sure your name matches exactly what is on your passport.
You will need your passport. If you have a driver's licence - full or provisional - have that ready too.
If you do not have a driver's licence, see the Identity section below.
EU citizens
You will need to provide your Right to Work share code. You can generate one on the government website.
Non-UK and non-EU citizens
You will need to upload a screenshot of your Right to Work share code. You can generate one on the government website.
What if I do not have a valid UK passport?
If your passport has expired or you do not own one, upload a photo of your Birth Certificate instead. You will find the upload option in the Upload Another Document section at the bottom of the Identity and Documents page.
Your onboarding manager will then arrange a short video call with you to complete an in-person verification check.
How do I prove my identity?
Through the Onfido link, you will be asked to confirm your current address. You will also need to upload two proofs of address from the list below.
If you are a UK citizen without a driver's licence, you will need to complete this step too.
Valid proofs of address:
- UK driver's licence - full or provisional
- Bank statement from the last three months
- Credit card statement from the last three months
- Utility bill from the last three months
- Council tax statement from the last 12 months
Please note we cannot accept two statements from the same bank.
Are there any restrictions?
We are not able to support candidates who are currently on a sponsored visa, and we are not able to offer sponsorship at Zen Educate.
I am studying on a 20-hour visa. What do I need to provide?
You will need to provide a Term Dates Letter from your university. This must be specific to you - we cannot accept generic term dates from a university website.
Once you have completed your studies, you will need to provide either a Confirmation of Completion or a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS Letter). This confirms that you have finished your course and are able to work full time without restrictions.
What if my right to work is due to expire?
If your right to work document is coming up for renewal, send your updated share code to support@zeneducate.com as soon as possible to avoid your profile becoming unverified.
If you have submitted an application to the Home Office and are still waiting for a decision, send your application reference number to support@zeneducate.com along with your consent for Zen Educate to complete a verification check on your behalf. This allows us to obtain a Positive Verification Notice confirming your right to work while your application is being processed.
Still have questions?
We recommend reaching out to your assigned recruiter directly. You can find their details at the bottom of your onboarding page.
If you do not yet have an assigned recruiter, email support@zeneducate.com or message us through the Help section in the app.
