Allergen and Anaphylaxis Training
From 1 September 2026, new statutory guidance known as Benedict's Law requires all schools in England to have an allergy policy in place. Zen Educate is making allergy and anaphylaxis training mandatory for all educators working through us, including those working in Wales.
What the training involves
The training is provided through Kitt Medical and consists of six short videos followed by a 30-minute assessment. It covers allergy recognition and practical EpiPen use.
It is free to complete and takes a maximum of 30 minutes. Complete your allergy training now.
Who needs to complete it
All educators working through Zen Educate are required to complete the training. This applies whether you are on daily supply or in a long-term role.
If you are a new candidate who has not yet been verified, completing allergy training is a required step in your verification process from 26 August 2026 onwards.
Please use the same email address you use for your Zen Educate account when completing the training. This allows us to automatically update your profile once you are done. Your profile can take up to 48 hours to update after you finish.
What happens if you have not completed it yet
Complete the training as soon as possible.
If you are in a long-term role, your account manager will be in touch. There is no automatic block on your booking, but whether you can continue working at your school may depend on whether that school has specifically required the training. If your school has made it a requirement, you will need to complete it before your next day. If you are unsure, contact our support team through the app.
If you are on daily supply, the deadline to complete the training is 30 September 2026. Some schools may not accept educators who have not completed it in the meantime, so completing it promptly means you will not miss out on bookings.
If you have already completed allergy training elsewhere
If you completed an equivalent allergy and anaphylaxis training course through a different provider, your certificate will not be automatically recognised on the Zen platform. You will need to submit it for manual review.
Email support@zeneducate.com with the subject line: Allergen Training Certificate. Attach a copy of your certificate and the compliance team will review and update your profile. This can take up to 48 hours.
Please note that first aid certificates are not accepted as a substitute for the allergy and anaphylaxis training, even if your first aid certificate included allergy content as part of the course.
This is different from the EYFS allergies module
If you have previously completed the Early Years Foundation Stage allergies module on the Zen platform, this is a separate course. The new mandatory allergy and anaphylaxis training is a different, accredited qualification. You will need to complete it even if you have done the EYFS module.
