How to Report an Absence
If you cannot make a booking, report it as soon as possible in the app. This is the only way to formally notify Zen Educate and the school.
Why it matters
Schools rely on Zen Educate for dependable cover. When an educator does not show up without notice, it leaves a classroom without support and puts extra pressure on the school team.
Even a single unplanned absence can have consequences — schools may choose to end a booking early, reduce the number of requests they send you, or in serious cases, stop working with you altogether.
Whenever possible, try to schedule personal or medical appointments during school holidays or outside of school hours.
How to report your absence
Open the app and tap Calendar. Tap the date you need to cancel. Choose your reason from the drop-down menu. Tap Confirm.
Your calendar updates instantly and the school is notified straight away — you do not need to follow up separately.
What if you need to leave early or report a partial absence?
Partial absences cannot be logged in the app — the absence tool only covers full-day cancellations.
If you need to leave early or will only be available for part of the day, contact the support team as soon as possible by emailing support@zeneducate.com or messaging us through the Help section in the app.
If you are in a long-term booking, make sure you also let the school know directly. You can do this by messaging them through the app — open the app, go to your Calendar, tap the booking, and tap the message icon.
Can an absence be removed?
In most cases, absences cannot be removed once logged. Before accepting any booking, make sure you have read it carefully and are fully committed to the dates — this is especially important for multi-day bookings where repeated absences can affect your relationship with the school and your standing on the platform.
If you are in a long-term booking, were marked as absent, and are now available to work again, contact your account manager or our support team directly. They will be able to check whether the position has already been filled and whether it is possible for you to return and have the absence removed.
