Setting your work and travel preferences
Your preferences tell Zen Educate what kind of work you are looking for and how far you are willing to travel. Getting these right means you will see roles that actually suit you - and receive more relevant requests.
To get there: tap More in the bottom navigation bar, then tap Preferences.
Work preferences
Tap Work to choose what type of work you are interested in.
Daily supply cover: Day-to-day supply work at schools. Tick this if you want to receive supply requests. Doing supply work also increases your chances of finding long-term work, as schools get to know you first.
Long-term work: Placements ranging from a month to permanent roles. If you tick this, you can also specify whether you are looking for:
- Full-time - Monday to Friday, full school days
- Part-time - reduced days or school hours
You can select both daily supply and longer-term work if you are open to either.
Travel preferences
Tap Travel to set how you get around and how far you are willing to go.
Transport method: Toggle on the methods you use: Walking, Public Transport, Driving, or Cycling. The app will match you to roles using the shortest of your selected methods.
Preferred max travel time: Enter the maximum number of minutes you are willing to travel to a school. This is a key setting - educators willing to travel up to an hour receive twice as many requests as those who set a limit of 30 minutes. If you are not seeing enough work, increasing your travel time is one of the quickest ways to change that.
Not seeing enough work?
If roles are not coming through, your preferences are the first place to check. Make sure daily supply cover is selected under Work, and consider increasing your maximum travel time under Travel. Take a look at our Not seeing any work? article for more reasons and fixes.
