How long-term jobs work
Long-term roles are placements that can range from a few months to permanent positions. They work differently to daily supply - here is what to expect from the process.
Finding a long-term role
Long-term roles are listed in the Jobs tab of the app. You can browse all available roles under the All view and use the filters to narrow down by location, role type, and hours.
Each role shows the school name, location, travel time, start date, and whether it is full-time or part-time.
Expressing interest
If a role looks right for you, tap to express interest. It will then appear in your Interested tab so you can keep track of it.
The Account Manager for the relevant school will be notified and will review whether you are a strong match for the role. If they think you are suitable, they will invite you for a matching call.
If you do not hear back, it means you were not put forward for that role. This is not a reflection of your overall profile - it simply means another candidate was considered a closer match for that particular school or position.
What happens next
If the school is interested in your profile, they may invite you for:
- A trial day - a day in school before the placement is confirmed, giving both you and the school a chance to see if it is the right fit. Trial days appear in your Calendar and are paid.
- An interview - some schools prefer to meet candidates before committing to a placement.
Confirming the placement
If the trial day or interview goes well and the school would like to proceed, the Account Manager will be in touch to confirm the next steps and get the placement set up.
Not seeing any long-term roles?
If no roles are showing in your Jobs tab, it means there are currently no open positions that match your preferences and location - not that there is anything wrong with your profile.
A few things worth checking:
- Your work preferences: Make sure Longer-term work is selected under More → Preferences → Work. If this is not ticked, long-term roles will not show.
- Your travel radius: A lower travel time limit means fewer roles will match. Consider increasing it under More → Preferences → Travel.
- Check back regularly: New roles are added as schools confirm their needs, so the Jobs tab can change week to week.
If you have checked all of the above and are still not seeing anything suitable, it may simply be that no matching roles are available in your area right now. This can change, so it is worth keeping an eye on the tab.
