Getting Daily Supply work

Daily supply is day-to-day cover work at schools in your area. This article walks you through how it works from receiving a request to arriving on the day.

Before you start

To receive supply requests you need to have completed your onboarding and been verified on the platform. If you have not done this yet, please download the app to get started.

You also need to have the Zen Educate app downloaded and push notifications turned on.

If you are not sure whether notifications are enabled, go to More → Preferences → Notifications in the app and check your settings.

You can also check your phone's notification settings directly - on iPhone go to Settings → Notifications → Zen Educate, on Android go to Settings → Apps → Zen Educate → Notifications.

How requests work

When a school in your area needs cover, Zen Educate sends the request out to educators whose travel and work preferences match the role. Most requests go to multiple candidates at the same time to make sure the role gets filled - so if you see a request, act on it quickly. If another educator accepts it first, it will no longer be available to you.

New requests appear in the Available tab of the Supply section in the app.

Accepting a request

When a request comes in, tap it to review the details - including the school, role, date, and hours. If you are happy with everything, tap to accept it.

Once accepted, the booking moves to your Accepted tab in Supply and also appears in your Calendar.  If you see an available role and decide it's not a right fit for you, you can decline it.

If you are unavailable on certain days, make sure your availability is up to date in the app to avoid receiving requests you cannot take.

Important: Once you accept a booking, you will not be able to accept other requests for the same dates. Only accept a booking if you are sure you are available and able to work.

What to bring on the day

You must bring the following to every booking:

  • Passport or ID
  • DBS certificate - physical copy

Your physical DBS certificate is required at every school. Some schools may accept a digital copy if you have forgotten your physical one, but this is at the school's discretion and you may be turned away without compensation if you do not have it. Do not rely on a digital copy as a substitute.

Aim to arrive 10 minutes early. This gives you time to check in, find your classroom, and settle in before the school day starts.

If you cannot make a booking

If something comes up and you are unable to attend a confirmed booking, you must report it as soon as possible through the app. Take a look at our Reporting an absence article for the steps to follow.
